Gemini Plot 2

...(Continued from Border Worlds Plot 2)

The player had better remember not to land on Perry with the Firekkan carrier. If you do, first the Confeds will confiscate it, then it will explode, due to the self-destruct device put in by Border Worlds. You’ll be arrested on charges of sabotage against a military facility, and had better have saved the game recently. The right way is to leave the carrier in self-defense mode, orbiting, and fly your Hellcat to Perry.

You meet Sandra Goodin at the bar. She’s happy to see you but says they have no work for privateers at the moment. You say that that isn’t true; that they are looking for Hunter Toth. She says she’s surprised you know about such a secret operation, and wonders why are you interested. You say you’re looking for him for personal reasons. She says that all they know is that Toth is being held in a ship. Some kind of frigate or corvette, which is stationed at a secret base in the Fariss quadrant. She says that some Confed agents want to speak to Toth; though she doesn’t know why. But they have not posted a bounty for his rescue. At least not yet.

If you’re smart, there’s a way of programming the carrier’s tactical computer to fire a burst of FF missiles followed by a leech missile, as well as to give priority to incoming leech missiles, for the point defenses to target. Best way to play this mission would be to start a big rucous somewhere far from where the BW ships are. With a Hellcat and 5 Rapiers, or a Centurion, a Hellcat and 4 Rapiers, that should be enough to keep retro fighters occupied. Maybe keep your carrier around, and help them with automatic FF misile spreads; just don’t spend them all. In any case, the best way to recapture the BW ships would be with your carrier alone. Point defenses priority being leech missiles, means that you most probably won’t get hit by one. Launching a burst of FF missiles followed by a leech missile is almost a sure hit, since the target ship’s point defenses will probably be overwhelmed trying to deal with several FF missiles at once. In a single pass at high speed you can probably hit both ships with leech missiles, then turn around, come back and launch the assault shuttles, for marines to board them. As soon as the ships turn blue, swich missile launching mode back to auto FF spreads, and call your other escorts to come in for quick repairs and ammo reloading. The rest should be easy. Best thing to do with Hunter Toth is to leave him at Oxford; never mind the Confeds; he’s a vegetable anyhow.

From Oxford we continue on to Border Worlds.
