First part of the mission, several squadrons launch from the carriers and attack all manner of buoys, satellites and space stations, while the destroyers bombard the planet. We’ll need to show thousands of random points of light on the planet surface, each point flickering on bright quickly, then fading slowly. This should go on for quite a while, even as the second phase proceeds, which is to fly into the atmosphere attacking mobile ground targets. Phase 3 is like phase 2 but more concentrated towards the target landing area. Phase 4 is to protect the shuttles of marines from air-based and ground- -based threats. Phase 5 is the mission on the ground, driving assault vehicles into a zoo to rescue a few dozen varni there, and then moving on to a museum, fining a secret passage to a hidden basement area, and finding the Steltek map there. Would be very nice to do this in 3D, Doom-like. Otherwise, just don’t have Burrows participate except as air-support. Phase 6 is getting back to the shuttles, then out of the atmosphere, back to the fleet. Then we move on...

When South fleet arrives they say that a kat dreadnaught is coming after them. Captain sends everybody to the simulators to practise a new tactic: Accelerate sideways, engage Sheldon slide mode, and while keeping Sheldon slide mode and facing the target, toggle afterburner on and off to keep constant distance and so “orbit” the target while firing the guns. Cruiser are to launch dozens of smaller missiles to occupy the point defenses, followed by torpedos that should make it to the target. Simulator practise goes on for a while, then all fighters launch and wait for dreadnaught to appear through jump-point. Dreadnaught defeated (hopefully without too many losses), and we move on...
